Rain and other things…

Today is a good day for writing.  Current events, interesting subjects, problems and resolutions.  Seems each day brings a rainfall of ideas and concerns.  I had a phone message from a brother yesterday about an internet scam I inadvertently got involved in.  Long story,  pass word stolen, etc.  The day became more interesting because this family member thought the internet scam was worthy of a phone call when in fact, he’s shown little interest in any of his family for most of his adult life.  God, I think of all the wonderful events in my family that he has missed.  The joy of knowing some really bright, loving, courageous kids.  Successes to celebrate, heart breaks to help soften the blow.  Memories to build, memories to share.  While he believes it is everyone else’s fault he is outside the family margin, whatever the reason, it makes me wonder why he would try to connect when he has no real desire to participate. Oh, I’m sure the shrinks will say he reached out, made the phone call as a token of concern…needed to satisfy his sense of well being in this most obscure way. They’d say he is really a needy soul who just wants to be loved and accepted.  But a phone call for an innane, stupid internet scam after years of family neglect?  Thing is, I’d never expect or ask this person to come to the rescue for me or anyone .  God graces left him with little ability to solve problems let alone interact with others in a free and loving exchange of acceptance or ideas.  There are some people who are born to wear ‘loafers’…they can’t tie their own shoes.  And I say that with all due respect.  He has many talents to share with others, especially his family.  But life is a challenge…and we all carry a back load of burdens and responsibilities.  But here nor there, the point today is that the if you like the rain, take a walk in it.  If you like being a part of a family network, embrace it.  And the reverse is true.  The best thing is to be true to yourself.  Don’t pretend to be something you are not.  We are as different as each drop of rain.  Let it be or….walk on the sunny side of the street for a change in perspective.  It’s a rainy day but I won’t let it bother me.   Lots of people to love today that would come to the rescue.  Cheers, Wil
